Need help with restoring!

I tried to restore my 4S using itunes and it said extracting software then verifiying restore with apple then I got this error and my iPhone is showing connect to itunes. but every time I do it says it needs to restore and update and I keep getting the error. What do I do??

Edit: I was jailbroken and on 5.0.1

Seems like you left out the part that it's a custom ipsw. You need to be in DFU mode, not recovery mode.

I didn't try to get an ipsw. I just hit restore in iTunes. I'm being told tiny umbrella may be causing this error

Are you shift+restoring to 5.0?

Hold the Home and Power button at the same time until the screen shuts off. Now try powering on your iPhone.

Open TU, go to advanced and UNcheck the box "set hosts to cydia"
Then close TU and try your restore again.

Also, check hosts file in /etc and make sure the gs.apple line is erased.

If you do the above step with TU you dont need to check or edit your hosts file.
TU does it for you😉
And for a stock restore you need the gs.apple line, its not supposed to be erased when restoring to stock ipsw.
