Ok so I decided to upgrade my wifes 3 year old macbook with a 500GB HD and 2GB ram. I am a little confused and have been searching all day and just need someone to put it into steps that i can understand. I have taken out the old ram and HD. Put in the new ram and HD. Now what do I need to do? I stored all her pictures and documents onto a flash drive so they are safe. I just need to know what to do next. I basically just want it to be like its a brand new computer.

thanx

Find your Installation DVDs and use them for what they are made for: installing Mac OS X.

Then create new user and copy the data back.

You can also buy an external USB 2.5"HDD enclosure to put the old drive in and copy the data back via Migration Assistant.
There are many guides out there how to do this.

Also use MRoogle for similar topics.
