    Hi

I'm trying to connect a 2005 mac mini with wifi by using a USB adapter but I've lost the driver disk and everything else that came with it in a recent move. There are no company markings on the adapter so I don't know where to go online to download the driver. Does anyone here recognize the adapter?

    thanks

    Gary

    Things I would try:

Open Apple System Profiler or System Information and try the USB and wifi choices to see if the adapter appears.

It may not give you a manufacturer name, but it will probably give you a CHIP "name". (name of the main integrated chip that drives the adapter)

Based on that info, I'd initiate a search:
    "Mac driver software XXXX chip"
    ...or something along that line.

You might try downloading a few -other- wifi adapter drivers, to see if one will "see" YOUR adapter and then "adopt it".

Take a look on amazon and scroll through the entire list of wifi adapters and see if you can find one that is similar to yours.

If you have access to a Windows 7/8/10 machine, plug it in, go to device manager, and look at the device's hardware ID to find the vendor and model.

Why would you want wireless on a desktop? Just plug in a cable.

It is not always possible to hardwire a computer to a network.
