iPod Need .m3u playlists - how?

The situation:

i have music on my USB stick.
i want to make playlists with the music of my USB stick and put the playlist ON my usb stick (to use in the car)

but the car only supports .wpl (which is out of the question) and .m3u

what would be the easiest way to accomplish this?
