so i recently purchased a 2nd hand late 2013 27" imac off gumtree and one week later the screen died. flickering blurry and distorted. 1200$ wasted.

it displays on my TV with no problems. and the imac has no cracks on the screen.

the authorised mac repair centre in my city has quoted me 1222$ to replace the screen. no thanks.

are there any good affordable 27" display options available?

i would prefer not to use a TV because they use more power.

can i connect a display via usb? and into the video out on my imac?

also would need to know if the display screen problem will affect the camera in the imac?

and yeah for the 100$ that i had to pay the mac repair centre to perform a diagnostics test they could not answer that question. nor could they tell me a possible cause of the problem only to say the "display is faulty". hmm..yes i know that.. i'm a bit annoyed and untrusting of most repair places and is quite irritating now i'm out of pocket 1200 for faulty almost useless imac so i do apologize for my current tone...

Any monitor can be used there are hundreds of them for best performance use a 27inch 4K connected using mini display port to display port in the macs thunderbolt port.

Something like this.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-U2...1516276974&sr=1-4&keywords=4k+27+inch+monitor

But there are hundreds to choose from so shop around.

thanks. i did get the samsung 27" HD monitor and it worked out really great. was not expensive. unlike the 1200$ that apple mac centre quoted me to fix the imac display
