I have an iphone 4s bought a few years ago from ebay used thats unlocked. The reason i bought it used was because i wanted a 4s and the condition was excellent. They didn't have it new and i didn't want any bigger phones.

My iphone 4s has a ton of issues and i will need to get a new iphone. First off, i updated the ios few times and that could have caused it. But the battery went bad. Battery would go out at 18 percent or even 40 percent etc. so i went to a repair shop and they installed a new battery. Well even after they did that, the battery drained very fast. The other thing was the battery could not hit 100 percent anymore. When it did hit 100 percent, the battery would drain so fast where it goes to 50 percent in 30 minutes max etc. So with this new battery, it still went out fast. Besides that, my iphone has issues connecting to a laptop. I read its a connector issue where you connect usb to it. Well i went to a phone repair shop and my first issue was of course that... but my battery went bad. They put in a new battery and also repaired the dock? The first time i got battery replaced it was 30 or 35 dollars. This time, i think it was 20 or 25 for the dock and 20 for the new battery. I went to those small phone shops so i believe the battery isn't real? Thus i would need to get a real battery from apple? But do most people do that? I did read getting the battery from ebay with the do it yourself kit thats what most people do. But did those batteries my iphone was replaced with, could they be worst than the ebay ones? I never did a iphone reset but should i try this instead? I didn't do this earlier because i didn't want to erase everything on my iphone. The other issue is this iphone lags so much. For most people, this would be unbearable and for me, its as close as you can get.

I need to get a new iphone and it has to be unlocked since i use it outside the usa. From looking at the iphones, is the iphone se probably the best choice? I do like the small iphone 4s size and never had a big phone and i saw iphone 5 or 6 is bigger. And i want to stick with apple. So based on this, should i just order the iphone SE? Also how much does it cost total with tax? Also, why is the 64gb and the 16gb price difference so little? Even if someone doesn't use phone much, isn't 64gb almost mandatory? I don't mind spending a good amount on a phone and i hear the iphone 7 came out. but im not that type of person where i need the most updated gadgets as thats not what i am. Thus if my iphone 4s still worked like when i first got, i would not even consider getting a new iphone as it suits me fine. But from battery issues... it goes out very fast now and charges only up to 90 percent then quickly drains... to the lagging, i cannot use this phone anymore. I think even if i did a reset and got a new genuine battery, i still get a new iphone.

So is the iphone SE the way to go? I mean it probably would be bad idea to get say an iphone 5 or 6 right? I don't really care about the newest iphone and i know the 7 is out already.

Basically i want a brand new iphone.

Why wouldn't you want the iPhone 7? It is the best iPhone ever made. Unless it is cost related (although the carriers are providing interest free financing), what would be the downside?

An SE would not be a bad choice for the money. You could get one new for a very good price. A 6 would set you up for a few years, too. Both are good choices. And both could be bought unlocked just about anywhere. There will be a significant savings for either of them, now that the 7 is out.

Order of phones
6,
6S
SE
and 7

So SE wouldn't be a super bad choice at this point. It used to be 399 for 16 and 499 for 64 but they dropped that to 449 with the release of 7.

I would recommend 64 over 16 because after native apps, your actual storage is only 58,59GB and 10,11 GB. Granted some of the native apps can be deleted now if you're operating on iOS 10.

But still thinking of the 4S you got, you want more room to handle the updates for both apps and the system.

The A9 chip isn't so outdated that you can't last a few years. It doesn't have the 3D Touch and the lte bands in there are less (you'd want to go for a sprint model most likely), plus it's smaller in size (remember the plus models have a $100 price bump compared with the same model & storage but smaller sized sister).

If you really don't want to go any bigger, SE is a good choice and a steal imho.

hey thanks for response. Yes i did recall SE cost a bit more. So the SE with 64gb, its 449 plus tax which comes to around how much? Yes why would anyone even get the 16gb if 64gb is only a bit more?

the 4s just lagged way too much, but the battery is huge issue. Twice i got battery replacement but it was at those phone repair shops where battery is not genuine i assume. What should i do with the 4s then? Should i do a reset and see if that would fix it? I will for sure get a new iphone but i want this phone as a backup as well if you know what i mean. Im thinking reset it... if battery same issues only hits 90 percent then drains very fast and lags, then get a new battery through ebay? The iphone 4s battery kit? Then bring that to a repair shop and have them install that battery instead of the ones they have?

Well the 4s i been using for a while. Size is small and i wouldn't mind a phone a bit bigger and the SE seems good size.

SE 64gb is a great phone for the money. I got one instead of the 7 because I just like the 3.5mm audio jack and saved $200. I don't use my phone for all the upgrades the 7 offered so it worked out for me. Just depends on your individual needs or wants.

Hi there. Is it better to get it at the apple store or order it online? Does it really take 2 days only for it to be shipped? Also can someone tell me how much total is it after tax? Also is it possible to purchase a gift card online from apple cheaper than use it to buy the iphone online?

If you're happy with the size of your 4s, you will love the performance of the SE and the 4k rear camera. The phone is a littler power house with the 2gb of RAM and A9 Chip. It will serve you well for years to come.

Thanks. Can someone here answer my previous question? Wondering if i should get it at apple store or just buy online. I would buy online if i get it fast which i believe is standard?

From your responses and initial question my opinion is that you get a 7. Why? You don't seem to be about the latest and greatest, you are comfortable a phone working but most relevant you can make a phone last. By getting a 7 you future proof yourself, you can keep the phone for 3-5 years and not worry about the processor slowing down. You can get the most time from a 7 and have a fast efficient phone for many years to come. A SE while more economical has older internals will begin to show its age soon requiring you to purchase a phone sooner.

Just my 2 cents,

If you can wait a few days just order online and it will show up without spending time at the store.

Hi there. I think most likely i will go with the SE.

Last question, can i order apple gift card online and then use them on apple.com then i can get 2 percent off etc?
