I have a Note 4, but it's simply too big to take to the gym. I am thinking about getting a cheap Android, iPhone, or Windows phone. I have a limit of $250, but I would reserve that for the Nexus 5. I have a Moto 360 I would like to pair with the new phone, but that's not a biggie as much. I prefer a phone that has good speakers and headphone audio quality for the price. I am thinking about getting the Moto G as of now. What phone provides me with a lag free experience, decent sound quality, and good android software?

For the price, I think that the Moto G is your ticket.

I'd go 2nd generation without since it won't be your primary phone.

What do you plan on using it for at the gym? If its as an mp3 player, you can get a cheap iPod nano or if you have a bluetooth headset, you can use your moto 360.

MP3 player mainly. I want to pair my watch for fitness measurements like heart rate, pedometer counting, etc. Notifications are also key too. It's just I need that Android device to match my watch. What headsets do you have in mind?

I would say a used Moto X (2013). It's pretty small and compact by today's standards, but is still getting updates and should keep seeing them at least until the end of this year. And it would go great with the moto 360.

If you can go without the notifications, you can load music onto your 360 and just use that without a phone, I have done this and its great not having to worry about my phone.

One more option would be the galaxy gear s, as that can work independently from your phone, but will still get notifications and even phone calls. Its a little above your limit though, but would seem to be the best gym companion.

I say Moto X too. It's the only phone I've been tempted by other than the Note series and the iPhone.

Another one I just thought of is the HTC One M7, it has great speakers and headphone quality with beats. You should also be able to find a cheap one especially with the M9 coming out soon. Don't count on it getting anymore updates though.

Eh, I heard it will get Lollipop at least which is fine. I keep on seeing it only for $200.

If you are just looking for a second phone, primarily for the gym, I would get the moto x 2013 unless you can find a really cheap moto G first gen.

How about the M7? Has excellent build quality, excellent speakers, great 1080P screen, 2GB RAM, good processor, great fluid software, etc.

Don't know if it's 250$ new, but second hand it's even cheaper.

Oh, and you can flash stock Android on it thanks to the Google Edition rom.

This really may not be a solution for you like it was for me, but it may be worth your consideration. I know you're wanting a phone, but I used to be in the same boat when it came to bringing my nice, shiny phone to the gym. Hmm what could go wrong there?? What I ended up doing was buying a cheap, used iPod Nano (Gen 6 I believe? Well whichever one had the built-in clip). I find it to be perfect because it's very small coming in at around a 1" screen, which means it's very light too, and because I got the damn thing for like 60 bucks or something, I'd just be bummed out at the most if something happened to it. Now I have to mention a couple big drawbacks for you: there would be no speakers (at least built into it natively) and there's no WiFi radios for Internet connectivity. This would be the killer of my proposal to you if you mainly stream your music .

I decided to get the 5C and haven't regretted it. Thanks for the reply though.

EDIT: Nvm, saw you resolved it. Enjoy the 5C! I was a really big fan of the feel of it.

Thanks. It feels great. I agree. Pleasantly surprised too. I might even consider getting a 6+ if I can get rid of my Note 4 for a 64 GB model straight up or wait till the 6S+

I absolutely love my 6+ - but I'm an Apple guy.

Only thing I don't like about the design is the bezel size. The antennas are easy to deal with. The fact that I have used iOS with 1GB of RAM shows me that even if I had a gb on the 6+, it will be sufficient enough. I hope Apple improves the multi tasking in the 6S/6S+.

on a low budget windows phones are great devices. You get maps etc for free. Windows shows no lag. App amount is improving but first check out the store concerning app availability.
