Hey guys, I have an imac 24" which is rougly 2 years old

I want to get some RAM for it, my friend got me some which he got for his new 27" but that didn't fit in mine

Can you tell me which one I need to get?

    I'm on an Inter Core 2 Duo / 3.06GHz

    2GB RAM currently

What is the maximum ram I can put in this machine? Is it worth it or should I just buy the new 27" one's? And which RAM type do I need to go to the shop and ask for?

    Thank you!

The Crucial memory scanner is great - it will tell you what you currently have installed, the maximum officially supported RAM your machine can use as well as presenting a list of suitable memory you could upgrade to.

Your iMac will certainly be able to support 4Gb (2x2Gb), it *might* be one of the ones that can handle 6Gb (4Gb + 2Gb) and depending on the spec for that year may even stretch to 8Gb (2x4Gb).
