What are some good but reliable drives that you guys can recommend. I'm looking for something portable and lightweight and at least 1TB and up.

Would prefer something aesthetically pleasing that will go well with the design of the new mbp in space grey.

I have been eyeing the Sandisk ones.

As of now, I have a Sabrent slim case (I can't remember if it is USB-C or TB3) and a Samsung 980 Pro m.2 NVMe 1TB drive. For my needs, it is perfect. I don't need 7Gbps speeds for my data.

I really like the Sandisk one as well. But I remember there was a grey and white version of it before. And it matches the macbook better. Where can I find that one? All I see are the grey and orange ones.

I have a Sabrent case, usb 3.1 gen2, usb-c (not sure about spec; this “usb” numbering is crazy) with a Sabrent nvme m2 ssd 1TB into it. I’m getting >900Mb read speeds.
It was cheaper for me this way, as I could choose the ssd blade with optimum quality and price when I needed it. It’s small, well finished and feels robust.
Perhaps controller, sealing and heat management is better in compact units/models, though.

Problem is that Sabrant case + NVMe SSD cost more than just buying the Sandisk/Samsung out right for me. I'm getting about 900 read and write on Sandisk.

I already had the NVMe SSD just lying around so the external case was the cheaper option for me.

I totally get what you are saying, though.

I've been really pleased with the Sandisk G-Drive SSD
