Need shuffle by May: when should I order?

I'd like to get my wife an iPod shuffle for her birthday at the beginning of May. Right now the Apple Store lists it as shipping in 1-3 days. Any possibility there might be an update/price cut before then? It's not so much that I'm hoping for an update, I'm just a little worried that if I wait too long something will happen to delay my order and I won't have it in time for her b-day.

since the shuffle was partly created for the magical $99 price point i doubt the price will be lowered anytime soon. as far as an update, it just came out two months ago. its probably not going to see any update any time soon. buy it now and stash it away until the birthday. that way, you're prepared way in advance 🙂
