Need Some Advice (LOOK!)

Hi Guys,

I have a jailbroken and unlocked iPhone 3gs running on iOS version:3.0.1 and a modem firmware of 04.26.08

My goal is to upgrade the iOS version to 4.3.3 while preserving my 04.26.08 baseband.

I use a Mac computer. What is the best possible way to do this? Can someone point me in the right direction, or give me a quick tutorial link?

I know there are a variety of different ways to do this, but which is the most stable and best way?

You have SHSH blobs saved for 4.3.3 right?
Open cydia and look at the top of the page to make sure you can restore/update to 4.3.3
Then I would suggest creating a custom 4.3.3 ipsw with pwnage tool and restore to that.
 
My SHSH is as follows:

iOs 3.1, 3.1.2, 3.1.3, 4.0, 4.0.1, 4.0.2, 4.1, 4.2.1+

will it work?

I don't know much about jailbreaking/unlocking.

I just want to upgrade to ios 4.3.3 without updating my baseband.

I've heard tinyumbrella is good?

I honestly have no clue where to start.
 
Looks like u don have blobs for 4.3.3
. And for 3GS 4.2.1 is far better :)
Use sn0wbreeze 2.2 to make a custom firmware preserving ur baseband.
Put ur phone in pwned dfu stat.
Fire tiny umbrella in back ground.
Shift restore :) u r done.
Use greenpois0n to jb.

is there a more detailed tutorial on how to do this, it sounds too complex for me, and is greenpois0n better than redsn0w/pwnagetool?

Pwnagetool/sn0wbreeze is a program that makes custom firmwares (adds Cydia and other things) and you use iTunes to restore to them. Redsn0w and greenpois0n are programs that jailbreak your iDevice with stock iOS firmware (always recommended to).

As for you Mac, you have to use Pwnagetool.

my iPhone is alreadly jailbroken and unlocked, does this matter?

The top of my cydia says this:
iOs 3.1, 3.1.2, 3.1.3, 4.0, 4.0.1, 4.0.2, 4.1, 4.2.1+

does that make a difference?
or can i just follow the tutorial right now?
 
if you want to update the firmware to 4.2.1 then you have to fallow the tutorial. Take your time make sure to fallow it. if you accidentally update your baseband you are sol. just like updating directory from itunes you have to install the new firmware this will give you the jailbreak with Pwnage then reinstall ultrasn0w. if your not sure what you are doing I recommend finding somebody that can do it for you. Craigslist should be full of people to do it for $10-20

Try it but if it doesnt let you install the custom 4.3.3 then the highest you can go is 4.2.1
I'd also run Tinyumbrella to double check what shsh blobs are available for your device on cydias server.

follow the tutorial and do an untethered jailbreak for 4.3.3 using the new version of Pwnage Tool 4.3.3.1. (I am currently on 3.0.1)
(hopefully this will preserve my 04.26.08 baseband)

then unlock using ultrasn0w.


Is this the best way.
I need some input before i start the process.

As already recommended by Applejuice Cydia does not always display the latest SHSH status. The best way to check if you actually have anything beyond 4.2.1 is to run Tiny umbrella and it see if you can pull newer ones from Cydia. If they are there you will get them, if Cydia does not have them then you are limited to going to 4.2.1.

Using pwnage tool is not difficult. You can create the custom firmware without any risk to your phone it is only when you do the update that you have to be careful. The biggest risk is when you do option restore you select the correct version of the ipsw file the custom one and not the original. Make sure you know where the custom one is and there is nothing else there.

When I go through this process I find the easiest way is to open Tiny Umbrella and leave it open. Do not start TSS just leave TU open that will change your host file and point you to Cydia instead of apple.

Then run the restore to the custom firmware.
 
I already told u what to do.. I don know y u wanna go to 4.3.3.. Anyways try running tiny umbrella to get all ur shsh... if need detailed help pm me. I will go to bed in abt 30min :)

alright so how exactly can i get tiny umbrella, and run it properly to pull newer ones from cydia
 
quick question, what does this mean?

I am currently using at&t with an at&t sim, but i will be taking this phone internationally in the next few weeks

*IMPORTANT* If you have an unofficial carrier you MUST select the "Activate the phone" option under "General Settings" or your phone will not boot to the springboard after you restore.

Doesn't matter to you. You are on AT&T and you have AT&T sim :)
Did u run tiny umbrella?
 
tiny umbrella recognizes my iPhone, where do i see the shsh stuff?
i'm in the general tab

i can see the save shsh button and start tss button


edit: there is nothing under "Saved Shsh's for iPhone"

should i save all shsh's?

So i'm thinking that I can only update to 4.2.1

Yes.
U wil have to make Cfw and make sure u preserve baseband. .
And then put phone in pwned dfu mode.
Then restore with the Cfw .
And from Cydia install ultrasn0w.
You are extremely lucky . Please don screw up :)
