Need some advice regarding imac

I just need somebody to explain in simple terms for me. I wouldn't go to a shop because they would probably tell me I need the most expensive graphics card because they could see I have absolutely NO idea. I am so confused! Can somebody please explain about graphics cards to this very confused girl! I have posted what I will be my Imac in a couple of posts above if that helps any. I do play Sims 3 currently on a Mid 08 20" iMac and it seems to run reasonably for me?

You said you don't play much games or anything else which needs a good GPU, so even GT120 can be a overkill for you.

You already have an iMac so why do you need another one??

I actually had one more question. I know the iMacs are dual core. Is there any use for me waiting for quad? That's not going to affect the things I use the computer for is it?

You won't be getting advantage of quad-core... Your tasks are quite light and when quad-core comes (maybe Q1 2010) it'll be only in high-end, which will be out of your budget and needs

Thanks Hellhammer - one more question. Am I better off getting the 2.9 with the top graphics card or the 3.06 with the NVIDIA GeForce GT 130 512MB? I suppose I am asking whether the stock graphics card in the 3.06 is the equivalant/worse than the top in the 2.9?

DO NOT go for the 3.06 model, unless you want it few days earlier. The small processor bump (.13GHz) costs almost 200$. GT130 is worse than ATI 4850. Of course you can get 2.93GHz model with GT130 as well but there's no reason to do that, ATI card is just 50 bucks more expensive and beats GT130 in every category
