I work at a call center too but I focus on my calls. Mine are insurance calls and I don't want to be distracted much. When it's really slow with no calls in queue, I look up car models and specs. This is fun for me and also relevant to my job. =)

So you spend time doing something that's relevant to your job when it's quiet. That's exactly the sort of attitude that will get you promoted. Good luck. Added bonus, is your interested in what you do for a living.

In my call center they just like to the money come in $ ... to get top commission percentage they ask $650 an hour... so my job is a little intense!

OP: My response to the original question--- I browse craigslist for deals on video games, books, movies, records, things of that nature. My job requires utmost attention from 8 am- 3pm, and then things rather die down, so I do often have some time to kill before I like to head home

If there's nothing there, I'll read on my desktop on my amazon cloud reader.

Or, if I don't feel like reading something like that, I'd watch a movie on amazon instant video. I'm not a "go-getter" like some of the people on this thread; I work for myself. I'm content with my salary, and workload. As long as I maintain my obligations, I'm perfectly content.

(That last paragraph was included so that I'm not told off by other people on this thread. I'm just stating an answer to OP's question, not looking to be heckled.)
