My elderly parents live several states away. They are on old iPhone 5’s on AT&T. I’d like to buy them two new iPhones and add them to my family account as two extra lines and port their numbers over.

I have all their account info, PINs etc.

I’d like to use the Apple Store app, but two phones and start the process today. And then when I’m there this weekend pick up their new iPhones at their local Apple Store and finish up transferring their data from old to new phones.

My issue:

Can’t figure out the Apple Store app approach to do this. I can buy an iPhone, but I have to either activate it on my VZW account (option 1) or Buy a New iPhone (option 2). I’ve tried both options and it doesn’t appear to give me the chance to port a number in either scenario.

Am I missing something?

Any guidance?

I don't think the Apple Store app allows you to change carriers when purchasing an iPhone. One option is to just buy the phones unlocked and then go to a Verizon store and port the numbers over, or do it via the Verizon website once you have the new phones in hand.
