I need to write an essay and I have a fair idea of what I want to do however I am just having trouble narrowing a focus. I want to somehow do something about harm minimization and decriminalization and compare the drug policy here to the Netherlands..anyone care to help? :D Once I get started on essays im fine its just the topic thats hard

you might want to narrow your focus a bit. If it were me I'd probably tackle it from the law enforcement point of view, and maybe compare the amount of money the two governments spend on drug policy enforcement, and how spending more or less in that area might affect the amount of time and effort the law enforcement community can spend on other issues.

Or maybe you could say something about how illegal drug-trade activity tends to foster violence (or so it would appear, since there are no "legal" contracts) and perhaps compare the rate(s) of violent/drug-related crime in the two countries.

here's a website that might help re: statistics

I bet you've started by now, but do you have a good idea of your opinion within your topic? Do you have a good idea of all of the diversity of opinions that surround your topic? Dunno how much time you have, but the best writing I do comes out of intensive periods of reading. Once you've hit the saturation point you can't help but have things to say.

Let us know how it goes.

I've given up for awhile I can't seem to find a focus so I'm going to wait to see what the lecturer says in class
