In the good old days of the 90s I recall playing this simple 2d black and white action/maze type of game. when I say maze, I don't mean the type you see in childrens puzzle books. You were a black stick figure and each level is constructed differently, obviously getting tougher every stage you progress. The levels itself are designed pretty much plain and simple, There are ladders and what not, the view was kind of like if you cut a tall building in half and saw it from the side. You would have to reach the "exit" to progress. I forgot what the enemies were, but I remember that there were numerous powerups you can attain. The controls were pretty much up down left right and jump, not sure if there was another key for certain powerups. Also, if you were high enough on a stage and you fell, you would fall down and "squash" to death. This is all I pretty much remember, I tried to be as vivid as possible. So.... ring a bell at all?

edit: also, your character would "scream" when he dies. and Im not sure if there was a jump function or not

I think the game you mean is Loderunner. I could be wrong, though. But this used to be one of my favorites back in the days.
