Need to Clone HD with multiple volumes

Host machine is running 10.10.3
Hard drive is partitioned to two volumes:
vol1 OS
vol2 .DMG of vol1
(plus the recovery partition)

I would like to turn the entire hard drive into a DMG or clone straight to another drive.
I can use diskutil or CCC under 10.9

I've looked into CCC and it seems I can clone a vol but not entire drive...

Please help.

My suggestion:

Partition the target drive into two partitions.

Then use CCC to clone each volume -individually-.

Don't worry about cloning the recovery partition.

My opinion only.
