I bought a 2015 MB Pro, and transferred my profile and apps. Mostly it's working brilliantly, but I cannot play a number of songs i iTunes, because I have reached the 5 computer limit. I have an old Mac Pro that can't run anything higher than Lion. It just sits around; I don't use it. I started it up today with the intent to deauthorize, but I can't sign into my Apple account because I can't get the thing to connect to wifi. I had used a third party wireless device called Max Power, just a cheap little thing, and while it and the software still launch, I can't seem to get a strong enough signal to make this work. Even when I did, I was connected to the internet for a few minutes, iTunes says no network connection, and won't deauthorize.

Is there another solution?

what if I started that Mac Pro in Target mode, could I do it remotely from my new Macbook?

Thank you for any help.

It's a great idea and i thought you might suggest it. Yeah, I don't think I have a cable in the apartment, that's all. But that would do it?

Also, iTunes would not deauthorize despite me being connected briefly to my own network. It's a pretty fast connection, so even with meager tech like I'm using, you would think iTunes could have connected. I could load web pages; I was online. I wonder if there's something else up with iTunes?

Agreed, it is excellent. However, I just discovered, you can login to your iTunes Account and deauthorize computers! I did that, along with several old iphones, so hopefully that will do the trick. ;

Argh! Despite that I deleted all but two devices in Account page at iTunes Store, iTunes still gives me the message when I update my iPhone via MacBook that 13 songs could not be synced due to this same issue. I hope it just takes a little while for stuff to get updated in the system?

iPhones do not count towards your authorizations.

According to apple instructions you have to "Deauthorize All" in your iTunes account. Is that what you what you performed?

You can only deauthorize all once a year BTW, I needed to de A an old Mac I had given away recently and forgot about the yearly limit as I had done it earlier in this year. I contacted Apple support and they told me to pound sand.
