yesterday happen high serria got new update for security patch , so as usual I go update on this old iMac should be in the year of mid 2014.

all along is ok while doing update . I never update to new OSX as this is my old iMac only using High Serria

now the problem is keep showing

"

Mac OS could not be installed on your computer

the operation couldn't be completed. Undefined error:0
Quit the installer to restart your computer and try again .

"

Actually so I do as per normal ,

I even try these two option while I quit the installer.

it will pop out say

Are you sure you want to quit Security Update 2020-002 installer?

so there here cancel , Restart , Start up Disk.

I tried both Restart and Start up Disk option

SAME error message come out while i restart the iMac.

Ok I google around check , so there is recovery mode, press command R

so I did that . since start up disk from my HD can't work
I go reinstall OSX ,

Once inside I can see two partition of my HD

One is Mac HD another is Recovery HD

I also try both two HD but is Locked thus can't install.

now I really in lost....need urgent to use this iMac by monday for work

Ok , I already piss off....think going to spend entire night can't sleep.... Currently i manage to install High Sierra as I earse my Macintosh HD .

but just now can't install claim what disk boot disk I quite anxious and close it too fast never see closely

Now I try again installing currently left 15 mins like that cross finger can able to boot.

Ok it say " Could not create a preboot volume for APPS install "

guys any help on it ?

Weirdly, despite APFS being out for ages, Apple's own recovery tools usually can't handle it.

"Could not create pre-boot" happens any time you try to install MacOS onto an APFS drive from recovery. You have to boot from internet recovery.

Even then, if you don't want to end up with a mess of multiple "xxx - data" containers, go into Disk Utility and delete everything you can before creating just one container and then doing the install.

my button power in my old iMac also crack , every time need to press a lot of time than able to boot.
Cracking my brain try all means , just now show folder question mark now I able to go internet recovery not sure it it working , the globe keep moving and below does show starting internet recovery this may take a while .

so how long it will take guys?? Is really piss off if need to turn up again using the power button as it crack, need to press many times and pray it boot up.

Ok actually now I can manage to get Lion OS X come out install via wifi
now the problem it keep asking for my apple id and pass since connect to app store
so i type it and my another mac pop up new device as usual give the code for verfiy

but the problem is on the old iMac is on the recovery mode , asking for apple id login
despite I key in correct , it never pop up the verfiy code let me key in the codes to veify

Verification on older devices is not separate. Fill in verification code directly after typing your AppleID password. So

Password = AppleIDpassword+verificationcode

Ok guys finally I got sorted out , re install higher serria on this old iMac. Now I think better disable auto update, don't want to update yet got screw up on this old iMac . Is really time consuming to sort it back etc.....

but my another mac I does turn on auto update because in the latest update on Serria , this mac don't have error but on iMac don't why got error 0 , and later screw up... lucky the old iMac able to work again but i disable auto update on this old iMac.
