Need Video Converter to Convert Video Camera Movies

Ok so I have a MBP 13 and I am trying to convert all of my kids old home movies on 8MM Tape to iMovies, but I need a good converter box that will let me hook up the video camera to my MBP, anyone have any suggestions?
