I don't know why this is so tempting for us ATT users, but it is!!

I dont know, the price is up there and to me its not really worth it if Im going to use my AT&T iphone in the US 99% of the time.
If it dropped down to around $50 or so I could see it but not right now. I still got my 01.59.00 bb anyway

I dont think it would be a problem keeping older basebands.
People maintain their baseband from 3.1.2 towards 4.2.1 and the baseband still "talks".
We might see bugs like we do now with signal display and other minor issues but I doubt it will completelly stop working as a phone if you maintain your BB and updated firmware.
But again, you never know with Apple. Gotta see how it goes.
