Rolling eyes was a mistake.
Kudos to you for making this post, ShamrockSolace. But it's just a discussion, so it's not worth much time worrying about the reactions you get for giving your opinion (or your opinion at the time).

Many would have jumped at the chance to be in the historic position that Neil Armstrong had, but it also took a lot of bravery to be an astronaut. There was a strong chance that any of them would die in an accident or not be able to return to Earth.

I always felt bad that NASA wouldn't let Neil Armstrong continue on more missions after Apollo 11 because he was "too valuable."

Yes, these guys were amazing. If you look at what they had to do and go through, especially fly to the moon and land with basically everything held together with rubber bands and tin foil compared to today's technology, truly brave and courageous men. Any second after lift off the chances of something going wrong was probable, even dying increase the longer they stayed in space.

People watch too many movies and make it look to easy to really appreciate what these men did.

Pretty sure that this is covered in From the Earth to the Moon.

Anyway. Zombie Thread. KILL IT! KILL IT WITH FIRE.

From someone who grew up in his hometown (Wapakoneta). He turned his celebrity back on our community. Why should I have a good word for someone that treats people with disdain.

Which begs the question: what happened to him? There are no "hate" genes so it is learned/formed.

Look at Bob Dylan. He hates his childhood town of Hibbing, MN but there is little info on why he hates it so much and yet Hibbing has many fools who still embrace Dylan as their own. Many people feel a strong need to belong to something bigger than they are.
