At my local Costco the other day, saw one lonely Neo. One color only. And it was stuck trying to enter the Demo mode. I waited a bit. By the time I left the store, it was still stuck. The MacBook Air next to it ($999) was operating fine. Costco is not marketing it well.

I'm at Best Buy right now and they are all sold out of the Citrus, but have all the others.

Citrus is a big hit ... other colors seem a bit more "meh".

That photo makes my favorite (the silver with white keys) look even more appealing, perhaps because it's easy to imagine seeing it in person at Costco or Target and being unable to resist. I need to work harder on my checklist of reasons why I don't need a MacBook.

My Costco is only selling Silver and Indigo. $20 off MRP. Other models are typically $50 off.

Well Apple can refurbish my Citrus - it's going back.

We can't stand the color - way different looking in person.

Ordering the Blush to replace it.

2 Neo travel laptops !

Statistical Conclusion, with a data set of 1. 😑
Well, how many Costcos do you have in town?

Costco is big and has huge foot traffic here. Many thousands of people each day walk past the line of Apple computers right at the main entrance. Many more than our Apple store.

Apple Stores in my area are sold out of both Citrus and Blush. So Blush appears to be a hit too.

Blush is also the only 256GB model fully sold out at Best Buy currently, with no colors or configurations whatsoever in stock for immediate pickup in my area.

So I shouldn't tell you how lovely my silver Neo looks? Or what a delightfully simple little notebook it is?

Costco gas all the colors online. But blush is the only one available right now for 256gb. And everything but citrus is available for the 512gb.

Citrus is the top “sold out” and blush is second. Bestbuy, Target, doesn’t matter. Can’t get Citrus and mostly can’t get blush.

Did Apple make the same number of all colors or did they underestimate citrus demand? I can’t imagine they would underestimate blush demand because pink is popular.

I often wondered if this is planned by Apple. Scarcity if controlled well drives up desire. In almost all launches after the fist wave there is a brief pause before there are endless supplies.

My partner and I were talking about the colours the other night. She mentioned the Neo would be a great replacement for our 2012 MBP travel computer. She likes the Blush and we both find the Indigo and Citrus to be fun, but we're both suckers for Apple's Silver. I was very close to buying the 17 Pro for that unibody Silver to match my MBP and mini.

In the UK, there looks to be a lot of stock due in about 2-3 weeks at all retailers, including the Apple Stores. The initial stock levels were definitely low here.

That's pretty normal and rational, no? Not some scheme.

Of course initial supply will be low. How could they possibly know actual demand? Apple won't build a bunch of silver 512GB units if the actual demand turns out to be for yellow 256GB.

Apple starts off with a conservative amount in stock then ramps quickly to match actual and projected demand.
