I can buy a Neo motherboard from Apple’s self service parts shop for only $300. What do you guys think, should I buy one to build into an iBook or something similar?

12” MacBook!

(And if it is successful I’ll pay you $2000 for it. 😀)
Hahahaha! I definitely considered it. If it had anymore room it might be possible. Getting it to fit would be the easy part! Making keyboard, trackpad, battery and display connectors work would be about impossible.

Wouldn't the various connectors, for the display, keyboard and trackpad not be compatible? Never mind the various port locations,

Definitely not! I’m just planning on building it inside an older laptop with plenty of internal room, then doing something like using one of the usb connectors to connect to an hdmi->lvds adapter for the display and a usb keyboard and trackpad driver made from an arduino. I’m not entirely sure about how I would go about powering it.

If you do decide to do this, please post your progress here! It will be interesting to see.
