Like many of you, I am subscribed to Netflix through Itunes, at 7.99/mo.

With the new Apple 4k tv coming out next week, will we be given the option on Itunes to upgrade the subscription to 4k? Or will we remain at our grandfathered price (fat chance with that!)?

If we have to upgrade our subscriptions, I would assume that function would be showing up soon on Itunes. As of now it is not. I havent seen anything on any of this yet, but I may have missed it.

Thanks

I would imagine you'll have to pay to upgrade to a 4K plan, since Netflix (outside of iTunes) offers an "Ultra HD" plan for $11.99/mo.

Has Apple even confirmed if Netflix will have their 4k app for AppleTV ready to go at launch? I thought on stage they said Netflix was "working" on their 4k app and Amazon would launch "later this year." It sounds to me like the only 4k content on AppleTV 4k at launch will be iTunes store films.

When I go to my account in Itunes, and look at my subscriptions, it only shows my current 7.99 subscription to Netflix. It does not give me an option to upgrade to the Ultra HD plan. Perhaps later in the week, or sometime in the future, Apple will include an option to "upgrade"

The Ultra HD Plan is the same as the option to stream 4 streams simultaneously. The only reason I know this is we were already on that plan, so when I recently got a 4kTV I didn't have to change it.

Do you see an option for that?

Netflix’s UHD plan already exists. If you select the 4 streams plan that is also their UHD tier.

I was in your situation a couple of months ago. Since Netflix no longer has the 7.99 plan it is kind of difficult to upgrade but here is what I had to do. You have to go into your iTunes subscription settings and cancel your Netflix subscription. Then you have to wait for the subscription to end at the end of the billing month for your account. Then once you can no longer use Netflix you can go back into the app and subscribe to the 9.99 plan or the 11.99 plan. Just beware you will never be able to go back to your 7.99 plan as they no longer offer it.

hopefully we will be able to subscribe to Netflix via iTunes.. Because then ill be able to save some $ by buying some gift card

Apple has a lot of good info there, but they sure don't advertise it very well. You have to hunt it down on your own. I use a custom Google search like below all the time. Just swap in what you want for activity monitor there.
