Yesterday for the first time I couldn't hear the sound properly. The music and background tracks played fine, but none of the dialog did. This coincided with the app on the Apple TV having been updated, as evidenced by the app logo now saying “Netflix” in red on white, instead of white on red, as before.

Netflix tech support had me turn off Dolby, which made the voice track come back. We have had no such problem with movies played from the iTunes store.

I am wondering, whether there are others who have had this issue.

Sounds like your center speakers isn't working. Have you checked it? Also have you tried a 5.1 BD or DVD?

My first troubleshooting question would be this: did you previously have your ATV set to play back on Dolby or stereo? Give it some thought, because it's not as obvious an answer as you might think . What may have happened was that the Netflix update changed the default setting, and you got your dialogue back by changing the default back.

Thanks very much for the suggestion of checking my center speaker! One of its wires had in fact come loose. With it back in place, sound output works as expected.
