Netflix originals mostly stink. I think I only enjoyed about 3 all together. Netflix was much better when they licensed content.
Which is exactly why it will continue to loose subscribers. If you think Viacom, Discovery, NBC are willing to give up their content instead of making you buy their service - you're crazy. Netflix was great when it was a library of content from all over the map. Now - companies want their content in house to drive subs - and you wind up with a streaming + internet bill with 5 different apps, endless searching.. etc. Starts to make Cable/on demand look like a good deal again.

Or, stop spending billions and billions creating too much choice and crappy shows.

Curate great original content and license must-watch-tv. Spend less. Better choices for customers. And no need for spin-the-netflix-wheel-of-content.
Who's the arbiter of what's great or what's must-watch? Netflix has so much variety in their content because they have so much variety in their customer base. Something that you like might seem like crap to me. Something that I like might seem like crap to sw1tcher. Every show that debuts on a service or network is a gamble, there's no such thing knowing what's great original content or must-watch-tv. If there was such a thing, that's all anyone would release.
I'm not a Formula 1 fan either, but I found both "Senna" and "Rush" to be excellent films. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
My man's talking about Formula 1 Drive to Survive. I love that show. I'm an F1 fan so it's right in my wheelhouse.
Like a lot of others, I've had this feature for months. Never thought of using it though.

Yet, they still have way more good shows than AppleTV+. Now that For All Mindkind is done, I can safely say that I won't be watching much on AppleTV+.

Just watched the first episode of Something. Cast and story are quite bad. Can't recommend it. There are far better series...

Netflix is losing subscribers? That's news to me... and Netflix.

I'm into this. I've been beating the drum for a while that AppleTV+ should have a live network-cable-like channel where they just livestream stuff – AppleTV One. That lets them highlight new shows, air live events (like award shows and sports), and let's people just get home from work, put up their feet, and just tune in to their favourite channel. They could run ads for their other shows or have an App or Games review show....

I love that we can on-demand any shows we like, and that doesn't need to go away if there's a live option too.

Unless there's a specific show I'm setting time aside for (like WandaVision or Loki on Disney+) choosing something can be daunting.

I can't count the number of times I ended up enjoying some random show while channel surfing (and never would have picked) on old cable TV.

I'm with you on this! Could definitely see tv 1 (but with a digit instead of the word, to avoid confusion with Apple One).

I'd like it to be a showcase channel, where they could program it with blocks of a couple of episodes of shorter programmes, followed by a hour-long+ show. It could be time-shifted so 'prime-time' is at the correct time wherever you are on Earth (instead of having country-specific versions).

I've thought the need for this mode is there for other streamers too, especially those like Disney who recently closed all their UK Disney Channels – choosing shows & episodes one after another (or even a playlist feature) is no substitute for a constantly-running stream programmed by humans. I think this is the ethos that drives Apple's Music Radio stations.

Sometimes having a channel you can view without much thought or decision making is what you want, and having that coexist with à la carte shows & episodes would really be the best of both worlds.

I wonder if Netflix might be the first to try this, or if Apple will innovate first here.

I think it's more for people who have one or two main series they watch with a significant other and just want to pop something random one for like 10 minutes while they eat instead of spending that time trying to decide what to watch.
And I thought it was just us….
Netflixing's matching system is complete trash. It's almost like they purposely give all shows a 90% match baseline...
And I’m pretty sure this is why finding something takes so long...

Netflix wouldn't be Netflix without it's vast content library. Not every show is a hit, but there are many that people cling to.

I am lucky to watch Netflix twice a month. I keep it because my parents and uncle watch it a lot. They like the originals I don't especially as the only original I loved ended "Unfortunate Events". I did not like "Lost in Space".

I end up spending most of my evenings watching Paramount+, Disney+ and HBO Max. I also don't care too much about Hulu except for Futurama but my uncle watches it so I keep it.

I find it fascinating that netflix has such an overwhelming library and algorithm that it had to come up with a way to solve this issue. With cable it was 150 channels and nothing to watch. With netflix its the opposite: 1 streaming service and too many things to watch.
I think with Netflix is they tout this huge library. But for me. It is a huge library of stuff I have seen a million times. The reason I have a hard time finding something on Netflix. Is cause most of their stuff is older stuff I have seen a bunch of times.🤷🏻‍♂️

Why would you need one? Website works great. I’d generally rather streaming websites over apps almost everytime. The websites are more lightweight
Not me I prefer an app. Going back is a mess on an website. You end up clicking back to the video you watch messing up your watch history. Also apps usually have 4k support.

it‘s time for iOS and iPadOS apps to start appearing On the M1 Mac App Store, the rollout has been very disappointing, doubt we’ll see anything change soon. 🤦‍♂️

I only see if this working if it randomly starts in the middle of an 80's movie that I've already seen twelve times, but will get sucked into once more because it's on now. Just like TV used to be before streaming services. Wait, Die Hard's on again, and it's the scene where he runs into Hans Gruber pretending to be Bill Clay? I'm all in.

I’ve had this for a while now and didn’t even realize it was a test 🤣

Never actually used it.
