Only Season 4 of Longmire was netflix's and it was a Mess, not as good as what had come before it, let's hope Season 5 improves

There are LOTS of movies that only have Danish subtitles, and no others. English movies, mind you. Even if they have English subs in other Netflix regions.

I'm confused. You want English subtitles for English-language shows? In the USA I watch ALL shows with Closed Captioning enabled to get around the "mumbling" problem. Doesn't that address your problem?

I really hope Netflix focuses on smart, intelligent shows like House of Cards, narcos, stranger things, etc.

There is a reason that House of Cards has become such a smash hit. It's because it serves a totally underserved market: people who don't like dumb TV (like the Kardashians). Our modern media industry has no problem producing lifetimes of content for really dumb people, Netflix should not try to compete with all that garbage.

There are already other providers out there to watch tv content cheap. Hulu and Amazon both offer that. The problem is people are spoiled by Netflix's low price and not are realistic on just how expensive it is to get licenses for content..... even old content. And content that comes with a lot of restrictions on where Netflix can offer it. (Hence the VPN blocking) their original content though can be offered everywhere.

It's sad to see you will drop a service that has gone a long way to wake up the industry about streaming. If Netflix is to survive, it has to go the path of original content. It is the only way they can compete with the networks, studios and ISPs.
I'm willing to pay more for more content, much more in fact. I'm not willing to pay for Netflix's original contents as I have little use for it.

If Netflix increased their library into tiers, I would sign up right away.

Also, Amazon's interface and content separation makes things confusing. Even though I have Prime, I rarely use it for streaming. Hulu's content is different to what Netflix provides, so it's not a replacement to Netflix in the least. I own all three.

Eh, I don't think Netflix is serving an underserved market so much as that is the direction television in general is heading. Numerous shows on other networks that have helped change the landscape in the medium and have provided the necessary fill of intelligent, adult programming. HBO, Starz, Showtime, FX, AMC, for example, have all filled the void for years.

The big benefit and draw for Netflix show isn't simply serving an overlooked market. It's a combination of that plus instant gratification of having the entire season dropped at once. Try waiting for each new episode of Stranger Things on a week by week basis....it'd be hell.

Stranger Things was amazing. One of the best series I've watched in a long time. Couldn't stop watching it (love the soundtrack too). Can't wait for season 2.

Netflix seems to do well with a season or two of original shows. But is there an example of a series actually continuing to be good after season 2? Or even season 1 in some cases? Narcos is rubbish in season 2, House of cards went downhill at season 3, Orange is the New black was poor after season 1.
Plenty of shows do well, it's just that not everyone agrees as everyone has different tastes. Just as it is with many things in life.

Wish they'd just put English subtitles for more shows, for those of us not based in English speaking countries. Sometimes I can't understand a word of what the actors mumble...
Many of us English speakers need subtitles on British, Canadian, and US shows because the actors mumble.

I'm in the US and we've loved watching all the foreign shows and movies that have been on Netflix over the years. Sadly it seems that Netflix's catalog of good foreign shows is drying up.
Agreed. I have enjoyed watching many of the British, Scottish, Irish, Canadian made shows. I especially like the British cop shows set in the past. I have often seen labels on them as "Netflix Originals," when they are produced by BBC.

Why don't these companies realize I'm trying to save money and put all the content I want in one package for a low price. Why do they have to try to make money.

how about a sitcom in front of a live audience

but none of the rewrites or the enforcement of unnecessary characters by a network?
They have a sitcom. It's called "The Ranch"

That impossible. No streaming service could possibly license all of the content that everyone wants.

Never really been a fan of any of their original content - seems to start OK and then lose the plot or get repetitive. It might force us outside the USA to look at other options

Ugh. I hate the way tv is heading! I don't want to pay for a bunch of separate services so I can watch the shows I like. That adds up really fast when you think about it: Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, Crunchy Roll, CBS All Access, HBO Now, plus cable for those of us that haven't cut the cord yet! We're talking several hundred dollars a month if you're a big tv or movie fan. Insane! And it's all about money!

I just want one service that's like Netflix plus Apple Music for not a ridiculous amount per month and works seemlessly with my many Apple devices.
