Netflix: Subtitles not showing all the time

Recently I have experienced some issues with subtitles on Netflix. Not all of the subtitles are showing. If there is a conversation then the subtitles for one person is showing but when the other replies the subtitles are not showing. There is not pattern. Sometimes the subtitles are show for some time and then suddenly some of the lines are missing again. Strange...

I have tries to reset and restart the Apple TV but it has not solved the issue.

Any suggestions?

I also have this exact problem (except for swedish subtitles, I assume the OP uses danish).
I have the ATV2 with the latest software. Some movies have no issues at all, while other are missing up to 1/3 of the subtitles.

Every time I have encountered this and when there has been english subtitles available, the english one never have any problems.

If anyone has a clue about this, please post here. I have searched the web and found no answers.

I can also say that it is always the exact same lines of subtitles that are missing if you play a movie several times. It is not random.

Also I see this exact same problem when using the Netflix app on my iPad mini.

I have reported a few movies through netflix (web), but you never get any response from that.

Netflix used to be such a fantastic experience, but since these new subtitling updates it has gotten mediocre.

Yes there is subtitle issue with Netflix such as Lilyhammer season 2 the Norwegian spoken parts sometimes shows up subtitles or nothing or a delay in translation. The same issue with Foreign movies now, Apple TV latest update ****ed up Netflix big time even the streaming does not stream in Super HD but SD instead.


It is a shame so many people have complained and Apple has not fixed this issue yet.

What is it you are trying to watch? Is it ALL shows and movies?

Netflix released a couple new anime shows in Japanese and their own subtitling is terrible. You get about 1 sentence per spoken paragraph. It's terrible and makes it difficult if not impossible to watch unless you speak Japanese. Kite and Kite Liberator or 2 examples.

No, most content is subtitled fine for me.
Examples of content that has these problems is the movie "Texas Killing Fields" an the mini series "Ring of Fire".

BUT... Now it has been fixed. I've double checked the two titles above and now there are no subtitling problems.

Don't know how/where this was fixed. There was an update to the netflix iOS app, but I have not seen any updates to the apple TV.

Anyway. Now everything works like expected again for me!
