I could see using the feature. Today our home is not unlike my home growing up. The radio was set to one of my favorite stations and it randomly played music I liked. Today the TV is on in the background, say when dinner is being made. In our modern age we should be able to say, “Hey Siri, randomly play episodes of Blue Bloods on Netflix.” I have seen all the episodes. I do have favorites, for example season one’s final episode. But there are always scenes I enjoy in every episode so jumping around is fine especially since it is just on in the background. If I want to sit down and watch then I would select a favorite episode. This just makes accessing your favorite shows faster. At least that is the way I see it.

This is a function far better suited to something like the TV app. In the days before streaming, we would watch TV without a need to decide what we're going to watch. It's filler, it's what you watch when you fall asleep at night, and it's something that needs to be recreated in the streaming world. Netflix sees this, but they desperately need to get it outside of their bubble. I'm very ready to leave Netflix for good because of the willful inconvenience they're inflicting on people who use other services. I love black mirror, I like a lot of other Netflix originals, but they aren't so special that I want to separate them from HBO, Showtime, Amazon, Hulu, or whatever else. Netflix, you are not special...I will drop you like cable without a second thought.

These guys sitting on their high horse.
Sooner or later, they’re going to lose some more ground.

The above should have been implemented long ago.
And along with the above blocking certain contain from ever appearing.

Yes it should have. And this is why NETFLIX will go by the wayside. Competition is increasing which means they have to bring their A-game. In my opinion they’re just taking for granted they’re “a novel streaming service.”

If it was truly random show this would probably be fun. I’m not sure if I’ve ever had their algorithm actually pop something I wanted to see that I handn’t already though. A random episode within a series is stupid though. That only works for stuff like mythbusters and friends.
There are plenty of shows like mythbusters or friends where a shuffle feature would be nice

Seems good for sitcom shows like Friends where you don't care about the order.

I've re-watched pieces of Downton Abbey enough times to realize that I don't always care which episodes I watch when I revisit the series. Sometimes I just like to see the clothes again or enjoy the interactions of the actors without needing plot sequence to be a driver of which episode(s) I select.

So I guess there could be a series on Netflix that I might like enough to use a "random episode" button on an urge to rewatch part of it. So far though, I watch a series on Netflix and then move on even if I like it, although in that case I may leave the show in my watchlist. But so many options, so little time...

Just keep in mind that Nokia wasn’t worried about the iPhone either.
