I wonder why features like this are taking so long? I thought it was trivial. Apple should just hijack control of it. Anything that uses a video playing API will support PIP when leaving the app. If they use the standard video controls, it will add a button. If it uses custom controls, it's up to the devs to add it. At the least leaving the app will turn it on. I'm not sure why it wasn't this way to begin with. Anyone know of a technical reason? I'm pretty sure YouTube will never add this because they hate us, lol.

Just a little heads up: after updating the Netflix app I still couldn't get PiP to work; every time I'd hit the home button it would just close Netflix. A restart solved this and now it works.

Here's a screenshot... 12.9 iPP running 9.3.2... Netflix in lower right corner.

Ok, well I'm running 9.3.3 beta, and Netflix pip is not working. Can everybody post if they are running beta or not?

Meh I had this ability since iOS 7. I am still using Jailbroken iOS 8 on my iPad Air 2 as I have by far superior multitasking abilities in comparison to stock iOS 9. Seriously don't know why this took so long I have been able to do PiP with almost any video app for years now hell I can even do PiP with Google maps!

As others have mentioned, one click of the home button does the trick...at least on my iPad 12.9. It takes a second but Netflix pauses for a second and says it is now operating in PIP mode. Make sure you're on 9.3.2 AND the Netflix app is updated

Weird. I just tried on my iPad mini 4 and it works when I press the home button, but I don't have my iPad Air 2 ATM to see if maybe it works now.

I've got it working on my iPad Air (1), running 9.3.2.
Ditto here. Fantastic improvement. I just can't open 2 tabs, without the first refreshing. But then again, that's what the original Air users had to get used to, from the very beginning, anyway.

Works fine here. Netflix v 8.7.0 on iPad Air iOS 9. Literally just play something and press home button and it automatically goes to PIP.
