    Hi all,

By default, I can connect to my MacBook Pro from my Mac mini and see my home folder, Macintosh HD, and the public folder.

Something has changed (likely because of me) that has prevented the same access when connecting to my Mac mini from my MacBook Pro.

I, of course, see the home folder and the public folder, however, the Macintosh HD is not appearing.

While I realize I could set this as a "shared folder" and have this resolved quickly, I'd rather find out what the difference is between my Mac mini and my MacBook Pro that allows the Pro to "share" the Macintosh HD without it being a share.

    Anyone have any thoughts?

    Thanks!

10.10 on both, with Server on the mini. Also occurred in 10.9.

OS X Server does not share the main hard drive by default.

I kinda figured that might be the case. Any thoughts on how to re-enable without setting as a shared folder?

You can add it as a Share Point inside of the Server.app. Otherwise, you can follow this link to an Apple Knowledge Base article.

That link only affects administrators. Standard users will not see the startup volume.

I am the only user of/on the server. Mostly used as a file server/ media centre/cache server, so this is perfect.

Glad to hear that is the solution you needed!
