I am trying to find a color printer compatible with a Mac that can print to a printer on a different network segment (Bonjour won't work). It seems no one uses drivers anymore but rely on airprint which isn't an option.

Does macOS not allow configuring an IP address or hostname of a printer in a different broadcast domain? Why is AirPrint not an option?

Edit: I have the option to add an AirPrint printer with IP address in System Settings.app.
