My wife has a PC laptop and I have a MBP. If my computer has access our wireless network first and she tries to connect, the wireless signal is drops completely and I have to reset the modem & router (comcast modem, Netgear router). In reverse, I have no trouble connecting to the network after she has connected.

Why is this/how do I fix it?

I thought it was an issue with her network settings or that one of our laptops had network preference from setting up the network originally. However, we have both replaced our laptops since then and I'm not sure what could be the issue. Is this a standard issue between PCs and Macs on the same network?

I haven't been able to find a solution after playing around with suggested fixes for similar problems. Any help would be greatly appreciated (so I can stop putting my computer to sleep any time she needs to get on!).

Thank you,

Edit: Security is WPA personal with password

IMHO, I would seriously consider ditching the Netgear router. I've never had anything but bad luck with them, and since Apple is coming out with new Airport Extremes, you might want to snag a new one.

That being said, I would try to just reset the router completely and re-setup your network. There should be a little reset button on the back that you can push with a pen.

Also, on the security front, does your router support both WPA and WPA2?
