i know on windows it is possible to see how fast you are able to share and such with the network that you are connected to. so, i am wondering if it is possible to do the same with a mac. i can see the signal strength of my network connection, but is there anyway to see what current connection speed is...

is there something built into the OS that could tell me Or
is there a third party app that could tell me?

The Network tab of Activity Monitor (in /Applications/Utilities) gives some info.
