"Network" Hacks?

Why have we not seen many "network" type hacks on the iPhone? By "network" I mean things like forcing different voice codecs or setting radio to 3G only. These are some of the things I miss about my BB 9700.

Why have we not seen many "network" type hacks on the iPhone? By "network" I mean things like forcing different voice codecs or setting radio to 3G only. These are some of the things I miss about my BB 9700.

I don't know about the voice codecs but you can force your radio to use only 3G/UMTS. Just SSH or use iFile to go to var/wireless/Library/Preferences and open the csidata file. Locate the following line:

GsmRegistrationModel::fRatSelection=0x1

Change it to 0x2 and save. Reboot to see the changes.

0x0 = 2G only
0x1 = 2G/3G (auto)
0x2 = 3G only
