I have a Airport Extreme that is connected through a cable modem. I have more than 3 wired devices that need to be hooked up. On 2 of the ports on the airport extreme I have 2 computers, The other port is going to a switch. the 5 port switch works fine if I only have 3 items plugged in. As soon as I plug in a 4th or 5th item the switch does not work (and sometimes brings the whole network down). Seems like it is failing to assign an ip properly. I have tried another of the same switch and also replaced the switch with an 8 port switch as well. I guess my question is does the airport extreme have issues with switches on the front or back end? I have way too many wired devices and need more ports, Any Suggestions?

    Thanks, Mike

I have had switches both ahead and behind my Extreme with no issues at all.
