I am trying to setup a network backup for my laptop to an external drive shared off of a PC. The issue I come across is, I have it formatted in FAT so that I can actually share it off of a PC and so the macbook can see it. When I mount the volume and try to connect TM to it, it starts to write to it but returns image could not be created. Any suggestions or has anybody got this setup to work yet?

Try taking a look HERE. Might be an SMB-related problem, or one with the FAT size limit.

That would be nice to have a NAS but unfortunately I am having to settle with a desktop with shared drives.
