I've been trying for the last 6 month to get my mac to see the Windows 7 PC. The PC can connect to my Mac G5 (running panther) just fine.

But when I go to my G5, to connect to the Win 7. I click on the network icon for name of my window's 7 machine I get this error:
"the alias xxxxx could not open because the original item cannot be found"

So. click on he icon again and asked it to find the original and I get the same message. So the original link to that machine is gone.

I used to be able to see into this same machine when it was on the XP.

I have gone to connect to serve a hundred times.... I get the same message.

How do I go about removing that (because it won't let me, says I have insufficient privs) yah whatevr.... and how do I go about creating a new "original" and alias for my windows 7 machine??

I am not 100% sure but I believe the PC needs to have Samba installed.
