I’m not sure where to ask my question BUT I own an iMac, have file sharing turned on. I want my nvidia shield or Kodi to see my iMac. With the ultimate goal of using the files from the Mac. Media files like movies music and photos etc. And I rather not use plex.

Any help and tips are appreciated.

Thanks I did have a look. I might just buy a NAS. That seems pretty simple from what I’ve researched so far.

So the interesting thing here is....if you want to view/share filles on a TV/monitor that are stored on your Mac, a NAS won't help. An Apple TV or something similar like the shield would probably work best.

If, OTOH, you want to view/share files on your Mac that are somewhere else...that somewhere else device could be a NAS.

True. But I would transfer all the files I guess. I’m a newbie to networking :(

But it’s ok. I continue to research.
