Hi,

I have 2 macs (one on 10.7.1 and the other 10.6.8) that I want to connect via ethernet cable to occasionally transfer stuff over. Both are also on a wireless network, but not the fastest type (I think it's the g protocol due to an older router).

I want to ensure that when I transfer files it's using ethernet. Do I have to turn airport off to force this, or will it automatically use the fastest connection? Is there a way to check?

Thanks

An OS Mac wull use what ever is the top selection in System Preferences->Network. To chenge from one to another connection use use that cog wheel (at the bottom of the left hand pane) to change the service order and put the quickest connection to the top of the connection selection. OS X then will use that since it is at the top of the list.

Thanks for that satcomer - I didn't realize that was the case
