I am trying to connect mac tiger to windows vista but when I enable file sharing and windows sharing, the only things that show up on the Vista computer are the printers that I have installed. Does anyone know what I am missing here?

Have you restarted etc? It always seems to take a long time or restart for newly shared computers to show up for me.

Then, if indeed windows sharing and file sharing is on and you're on the same network/workgroup etc, then the name of the computer will show up in my network places and windows shares will show up in network under the name of the computer (you still have to mount network shares in tiger which is a big of a pain).

You could always try pinging the other box to be sure they're seeing each other at all.

Yeah i restarted but it was still the same. But I tried typing \\[ip-addres]\[shortname] on an explorer window and took me to the home folder of my mac...after password confirmation, that is. Thanks!

Has anyone used Directory Access in the Utilities folder? I think I messed it up because I can't see any windows pc's on my network anymore! Is there a way to set it back to the factory defaults?
