I'm trying to network a G4 Powerbook with Panther and the other one running Tiger. I am trying to share files with both computers with a wireless network. Is there a way I can do this in the System Preferences?

By wireless you do mean airport?
If so, do you mean Airport Card to airport card?
How new are you to macs?
Is one machine connected to the internet?

1. Make sure System Prefs>Sharing has Services>File Sharing Enabled
2. Make sure airport is turned on.
3. If one machine is connected to the internet, on this machine go to System Prefs>Sharing>Internet. Select where you're sharing from (ethernet or modem). Check "Airport" and uncheck the rest. Select airport and click "Airport Options" and set up a password if you like. Press start then ok.
4. On other machine connect to that network from the drop-down menu in the menubar.
You should now be able to access the internet and files between computers
