I'm trying to do remote install from my husbands windows 7 since my optical drive is broken. Once the network is set up and everything is open on both sides i get.... nothing... no computer shows up at all.. he gets one with a bunch of numbers and letters that just has printer drives in it. CMD +K dosn't work either with the smb manual connect. any ideas?

Optical drive broken? What are you installing? What machine are you working with? I know that whole CD sharing thing was developed for Macbook Airs and I don't know if it is even properly supported on any other machine.

Can you tell us,

What kind of Mac are you having the problem with?
What is it you are trying to install?
