I should be happy I never had to use it but in the future when I buy another apple watch I wont buy applecare+. I was talked into it by tons of people telling me I would regret it if I didn't buy it. Its only $70 over a course of 24 months of owning my series 4 but still I hate wasting money. Apple support told me I cant get a refund.

After working in an Apple Store the number of people coming in with watch damage was pretty significant. Definitely not as much as phones. Surely a gamble on the buyers behalf and surely a money maker for Apple.

If the 24 months has elapsed, you didn’t waste money. You got your money’s worth. That is, you were covered by insurance. Just because you have it you shouldn’t hope to use it or feel bad if you don’t. Think about auto or health insurance? If you don’t need to use it, that’s a good thing.

Why would you expect a refund? I’ve had car insurance and haven’t gotten into an accident in five years. Should I expect a refund?

I’ve paid for AppleCare on my S4 and haven’t had to claim damage. I’ve had AppleCare on my XS Max for less time and had it replaced twice. You’re not paying for expected repairs but rather in case it’s needed

That’s the whole point of insurance... to cover an expensive product if something happened. If nothing happened, great. But life isn’t like that for everyone, that’s why we buy insurance in the first place.

I am super careful with my devices. Despite that I’ve broken several screens and AppleCare+ made the replacement of those screens a LOT cheaper than had I not had it. I’ve also had AppleCare+ replace my devices (for free) in several situations where the Apple Genius decided they’d replace it for free because of X defect. It has more than paid for itself over the course of the many years I’ve had iPhones.

I’ve experienced preferential treatment at Apple Stores with AppleCare+ - saving me tons of time.

In a perfect world - is it a waste of money? Yep. Is it a perfect world? Lol.
