Also, how can they drop-test this supposedly new iPad in their case if it isn't even available yet?

The little blue box in the bottom left corner of the packaging can quickly be updated with a little blue sticker that has the correct product names, by a sales associate when the time comes. I wouldn’t get hung up on the idea that the updated iPad is going to take on the new iPad form-factor.

So then Apple is getting rid of the old body style, even on the entry level model?
Finally. Let’s hope that means they’ll all have laminated displays from now on as well. That chunky as hell glass on display style was done five years ago, but Apple just had to cheap out and keep it around.

They just updated the standard iPad last September. I just a new one this week . How much time do I have to exchange it for the newer one?

Yeah… I'm an idiot. I totally thought it said Pro.

That said, I've added this paragraph that thankfully saves my ass:

"While the packaging does not explicitly mention that the new 11-inch iPad is a Pro model, that is almost certainly the device this would be referring to, as no other upcoming iPad is rumored to sport an 11-inch display. The ninth-generation iPad, for example, is rumored to feature a 10.5-inch display like the third-generation iPad Air."
Well, all of the rumors have centered around the 12.9" iPad Pro being updated with a mini-LED display. There has been no indication whatsoever of the 11" iPad Pro getting the same treatment...everyone simply assumes this is the case because iPad Pro has been consistent across 11 and 12.9" models.

The packaging is very specific. Seems vey unlikely to me that it is this specific and also completely wrong. Not for a product that is already in Target and made by a reputable brand.

All data points to:

12.9" iPad Pro getting updated to mini-LED.

11' iPad Pro being rebanded/released as NEW iPAD 11". Wouldn't be the first time Apple has done something like this with iPad. My guess it is getting a chip update, but not a display update, leaving behind the Pro moniker. Maybe dropping $100 in price too.

iPad. Not pro. Even the pic says iPad. :)
"new ipad" that's just how Speck labels their pre-release manufacturing versions.

they do this for iPhones as well where the first cases on shelves just say "new iPhone 4.7" because they don't actually have the marketing name Apple gives the device yet, just the dummy block to make a case from. they've done this several years now.

Too many version of the iPad: Pro, Air, No-suffix, mini

Should just be: Pro (2 sizes), No-suffix (1 size), Mini (1 size)

With rumors swirling about an upcoming iPad Pro refresh, which may be announced as part of an alleged Apple Event on Tuesday, March 23, it appears that at least one accessory maker has already started preparing.

speck-2021-ipad-pro-image.jpg

A photo shared on Reddit today shows what appears to be a Speck folio that is listed as being compatible with an as-yet-unannounced 2021 model of an 11-inch iPad, in addition to the 11-inch iPad Pro and the 10.9-inch iPad Air. The user who submitted the photo said they found the folio on the shelf at Target, but when they attempted to purchase it, the checkout system said the item cannot be sold until April 6.

The packaging does not explicitly mention that the new 11-inch iPad is a Pro model, but that is almost certainly the device this would be referring to, as no other upcoming iPad is rumored to sport an 11-inch display. The ninth-generation iPad, for example, is rumored to feature a 10.5-inch display like the third-generation iPad Air.

While it is hard to draw any firm conclusions from photos like these, it is possible that Speck has learned that the next 11-inch iPad Pro will have very similar to identical dimensions as the current model. This wouldn't be too surprising, as there haven't been any rumors of a major redesign for the next iPad Pro, with key new features expected to include a Mini-LED display, faster A14X chip, and 5G support on cellular models.

We wouldn't read too much into Target's alleged April 6 on-sale date for the Speck folio either, but it's at least within the ballpark of the late March to early April timeframe for the next iPad Pro update that was reported by DigiTimes earlier today.

Interestingly, most rumors have only mentioned a new 12.9-inch iPad Pro and not an 11-inch model, but the devices are usually updated simultaneously. March is a common month for Apple to announce new or updated products, with other rumored products including the long-awaited AirTags, a new Apple TV, new AirPods, and more Apple silicon Macs.

Apple last updated its iPad Pro lineup in March 2020 with a marginally improved A12Z chip, an Ultra Wide camera, a LiDAR Scanner, and better sounding microphones.

(Thanks, Greg!)

It's obvious the iPad 9 a jump up on the entry level iPad. Like everyone else has said it states iPad PRO 11 on the third line. I mean after everyone discounted the 8TH generation 299 (and why?) they are amazingly hard to find...Apple is making room for the 9TH generation. I mean with all that has happened and folks looking to get the tech into their households for ZOOM school and work (a lot of businesses will continue work at home after covid) an entry level iPad that BOOMS is the way to go. Even before the 8TH generation discount they were hard to find. But guess what, you can still get the AIR and the PRO (even with the AIR discount) all over the place. Apple has finally woke up and realized that affordable sells and in this current day it's a no brainer. I'm going to say between 350-399 for the 9TH GEN iPad.

New iPad 11... does it say Pro? No! It would say Pro if it was a Pro, because just below it it mentions the 11" iPad Pro. So it HAS TO BE a new iPad, and it makes sense. Any new update of the iPad Pro 11" would increase the screen size, so I would expect a 11.6" iPad Pro - and this case won't work with it - and a 13.5" iPad Pro

Some Chinese case/accessory maker could get some free press marketing by putting a "Compatible with 2021 iPad Mini Pro" on their product box... or how about "Compatible with 2022 iPad"?

Well that is probably what they are doing as Apple has yet to register any iPad models in the Europe database that is required before public release.

And Apple normally does this two to three months before release. So there is no way there is a new iPad coming out this month or next month.

Really hope so. My iPaid Air is definitely near death. First gen.

But I am not going to spend $500+ on just a refresh at this point. I want a new one, but I want the new design. And I Don't need the new Air or Pro. Just the ipad.

Well Apple will at some point give it to basic $320 iPad has features seem to trickle down the product line over time.

Well laminated iPad screen is other story as $320 iPad screen is really easy to fix.

So this is very vague, but someone that works at a major retailer told me there’s two “placeholder” listings from the vendor Apple with a street date of 4/1, and they’re priced at $49.99. Either those are new Apple Watch bands, or Airtags possibly. Or everything will change since it’s just a placeholder lol.

Item numbers are 057003035 and 057002817, so hold on to those for later
