That "BUY" chip that Apple inserted into your brain seems to be working really well! :p
Highly susceptible to Jobsian reality distortion field.

actually, I’ve come to appreciate the magnitude of post Jobsian and Post Ive Apple. It’s far easier and better for Apple to work hard, and not myself.

It always has been way over priced for what it is, its just insult to injury when its an "oversight" that a product that came out less than 12 months prior to the new launch doesn't fit the new one. As someone else mentioned, the next iPad could change more drastically. I don't mind the idea of needing a new case/cover for a new iPad, but $350? Thats a third of the cost of the iPad for a keyboard. Thats insane. I realize being an all-in-one case is a convenience, but you guys understand you can go get a generic bluetooth keyboard for like $10 right? I have trouble believing this product is priced what it is because its expensive to make.

The only reason Apple gets away with that price is people like the person above in this thread who said just pay it, you'll forget about the price after using it. Can I get wheels for my iPad too?

Many will say "There's apple, trying to sell more accessories!", but I feel like they can't just say, "It'll be snug but it will work" because then people will break them trying to get them in or there will be some long term wear and they will be in a class action suit. So use the old keyboard at your own risk, sure, but if there is some problem down the road, you can't sue apple.

Im wondering about other cases, like regular silicone case, will that fit, probably will have to wait till 21.st to find out.

I'm sure the apologies will start pouring in from the outrage trolls who commented in MacRumors earlier news article:

New 12.9-inch iPad Pro Not Compatible With Older Magic Keyboard

Why are they needed? Apple completely botched this.

Even here they say it isn't the "best" experience, but for people who ordered the new part from Apple directly in this time have been given the older "lesser" experience while buying the MKB today...

Why can’t you clean it?

A lot of durable items are good used.
The keys on the keyboard are shiny most likely due to the oils from my fingers. The rest of the case looks worn from use. It’s not really something that can be easily cleaned.

Not from me. Apple could have easily cleared up the confusion right away. They could have said the old keyboard will work but the fit might be a little tight. Tight fit is not the same as not compatible which is what The Verge and other sites were reporting.

I'd rather Apple not hold back on innovation so the device can fit in a case from a previous year, but that's just me.
Well you're talking to people who are still holding on to this fantasy of the iPad being cheaper than just buying a Mac which is what they actually need.

Or you know, Apple could’ve just made a $350 dollar product work for another year or so, so you could get the best experience.
Not sure what you are getting at. It works 100% with the products it was designed for, including 11” 2021 iPad Pro and apparently works fine with the 2021 13” iPad Pro as well. But you’d rather have them not add new tech in the iPad?
If they wanted to screw over owners they could have changed more making it not fit at all.
This is a compromise that works for everyone.

Clearly from the thumbs down there are those that believe Apple should hold back.

I’m looking forward to someone measuring and reporting on exactly what Apple changed to enable the extra half mm clearance in the new version. Thicker plastic around the hinge?

"Works Perfect".

Somebody needs to find out why we have such things as adverbs.

My favourite, from British Football commentary: "The lad done brilliant."
It all started with Apple ad’s in the early 00’s on bill boards in the Bay Area with “Think Different”. It used to make me nuts. I’d mummer to myself ”ly....think differently”. The Irish nuns that educated me agree.
Yes sister no sister, whack, arrrrgh!

No one would want my keyboard. It‘s obviously noticeable that it’s used and isn’t something that can be cleaned.
I have to agree, as much as I like my 2020 MK, keeping it looking somewhat clean is hard, if not impossible to do, even with careful cleaning. The material does not lend itself to even the gentlest of cleaning. If someone know some magic cleaning solution please share.

In fact I put a nice skin on mine, but I'm that makes selling used iffy, as tastes differ regarding skins.

When my 2021 iPP arrives I'll check it out with my 2020 MK, and see if I can live with it. If not I'll look at the 2021 MK, and probably third party products like the Logitech Combo.

We all know when Apple releases a new product the current one stops working immediately and they send mysterious men to your house to march you to an Apple store to buy a new one. It’s known.
I am very sorry to hear that happened to you. Apple sent a couple of scantily clad supermodels to escort me to the store. It would have been rude of me to decline.

Get the magic keyboard. Buy an used one if you have to. It is way better and you will quickly forget about the cost.
If I didn’t already have the previous MKB I’d be buying one of the discounted ones to use with my new iPP when it comes. Here’s a screenshot of one reviewer‘s experience using the old one with the new iPP. From https://www.macstories.net/stories/ipad-pro-2021-review/
