cool stuff on there...the 17 inch is a powerhouse with ddr and all

but i like the 12 inch powerbook for many reasons even though barefeats didn't like the concept of a stripped down powerbook

but how else to get the thing to a mere 4.6 pounds and still have ddr and altivec?

so is the 17" inch powerbook the best laptop out there for us mac users?

yes.

but it is a better value/bargain than the 12" $1799 powerbook?

no way:D

The $999 iBook still sets the standard. I just wish Apple still had a $50 DVD upgrade for that model. Then I would've rather spend $1050 on that than the $1300 I spent on my combo drive iBook. I tested the new 700MHz 16MB VRAM iBook at the Apple Store and it seemed just as snappy as my 800MHz 32MB VRAM iBook.

I think the benchmarks are exactly what could be expected. I still will buy a 12" pBook as soon as possible...but I wish Apple would have added a L3 Cache, Max Ram of 1GB, and 64MB of VRAM...that would have been nice. They should have just made this an iBook...but I guess they couldn't because it is made of Aluminum.
