So I decided to go for this:

basic 15" macbook pro (non-retina), with 8gigs of RAM and anti glare screen.
With the option to upgrade my HD to an SSD later on.

Sounds good?

Sounds great for your uses. Congratulations!

It is exactly what I have, I have the hd display and anti-glare screen, and the 1G video card . Then I upgraded my hdd to a 480 Gb sad and while I was at it I upgraded the ram to 16 gb as well. That thing flies!

Enjoy!

By the way, if it is your first time doing that kind of upgrades, on the web site of Other World computing you can find a lot of instructables

I bought everything there, some people say that they are more expensive, I don't know. everything works so no complains on my part!

Thank you so much B... and IlikeMacsSoMuch. You helped me A LOT!
I don"t think I'll be needing the 1GIG GPU, since I won't do any graphic stuff or gaming on it. Mainly running heavy algorithms on the CPU.

One thing I don't understand is that most of the people prefer a glossy screen ... Is it more durable or something?

I have a 15" cMBP with the Hi Res glossy and I love it. It's swings and roundabouts really. Lots of people don't like it because it can be far too reflective. It does offer some protection for the LCD as its basically a glass panel in front of it.

No, it is just that the colors on the glossy have a little better constrast and "pop" compared to the anti-glare. However, the anti-glare is exceedingly useful if you will be using the computer in the office environment with lights and on the road.

I'm glad I helped!

Often I work outside or inside very bright environment, so glossy is not an option for me, but even so, when I compare it to a glossy screen, my preference goes to mate screen and my brother who is a graphic designer told me the colours are truer on a mate screen.

But, the glossy screen is a glass panel on top of your screen, so I believe it gives you a certain level of protection and facilitate the cleaning.

To take the anti-glare screen, you have to choose the hd screen, so it cost 100$ more. For some people, it's too much, for me it's not.

Well I do want a durable screen... god, why does apple make this all so hard :(

All screens made by Apple are reasonably durable. The retina and air screens come without a layer of glass and they don't reak unless you sit on them or something equally stupid. Durability is not an issue with these computers nor their screen. :)

Yep, my first macbook pro was the early 2008 15 inches, I only upgraded the ram to 4 Gb and it is still kicking! When I bought my 20012 cmbp I gave it to my 6 years old son who gives it hell and still no issue at all!

My 2,5K$ 2008 pc? It crapped on me in 2010, go figure...

So I went to the local Apple reseller store today and ordered my 15 inch macbook pro with 8gig Ram and anti-glare screen.

Again, thanks guys for the help.
I will let you know when I got it ^^
