I went from a 15" PC to the 13" MBP, and even with my bad eyes, I enjoy the screen. I had purchased a 20" monitor but it wasn't working right, so I returned it and on Sunday ordered a 23" monitor, for desk work (keeping fingers crossed that this monitor is good!!). I had my old lap top out today, getting stuff off of it, and with it beside the MBP, WOW what a difference in the screen!!!! I like the smaller size for carrying around.

kind of a dumb question but how to I hookup a monitor to the 13in mbp. Is there a certain cable that I need to get.

update: is this what I would need: Mini-DVI to DVI or a Mini-DVI to VGA adapter or something else. Please assist.

also is there a play where I can go on the macbook pro where it gives stats like which hard drive in installed(does it say ssd anywhere), memory (how much is installed), etc.....

Unless you plan on doing heavy gaming or video editing then the low end 2011 13" MBP is the best all around value. This machine is pretty darn fast with most tasks including photo and video editing. The much maligned intel graphics work surprisingly well under OSX. There's a $600 difference between the low-end 13" and low-end 15" which to most people is a lot of money.

If you have a 13" MBP you need Mini-Display Port -> A port on your monitor. VGA, DVI, or HDMI are all popular on monitors these days.

Save money and buy from monoprice.com They have them for about 1/5th the price as Apple.

It should do, you need to expand each section till you find it as i can't remember exactly where it is (I am at work using a laptop )

I got the 13" i7 one week ago. It is my first mac.

I think the resolution is perfect for 13". I came from a 15" PC.
So far I have never felt the screen to be cramped due to low resolution.

If I have understood correctly OS X Lion will also bring full screen mode to a lot of apps. I guess that will utilize the screen resolution even better.

I've just gone from the 15" MBP (mid 2009 unibody) to the new 2011 13" MBP (base model) and much prefer the 13" I wanted something more portable since I travel with my MBP every day. Also I normally use an external display (even for the 15" sometimes) so the drop in resolution is not such a deal breaker.

The new 13" MBP is powerful considering it's size and I feel it's the sweet spot for power and and portability :)
